Jacob Lee Vandiver arrested for the murder of 22-year-old Luke Oliveira after shooting at Hooters in Newnan
He faces charges of murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and aggravated assault.
Officials have named the victim in the fatal shooting of a Newnan resident. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight on March 4, prompting a response from the Newnan Police Department to the Hooters parking lot at 1001 Bullsboro Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders provided immediate medical assistance before transporting him to an Atlanta-area hospital.
The victim, identified as Luke Oliveira, 22, succumbed to his injuries at 6:01 a.m.
Investigators concluded that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation between Oliveira and Jacob Lee Vandiver of Fayetteville.
According to a press release issued by the city of Newnan, the two individuals were together at the restaurant prior to the shooting.
Vandiver, 28, was taken into custody and transported to the Coweta County Jail.
He faces charges of murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and aggravated assault.
