TORNADO WARNING for Collin and Denton Counties including Little Elm, Prosper and Frisco

Weather sirens have been activated due to the approach of 2-inch hail toward the City of Frisco. Little Elm and Prosper are also activating their weather warning sirens.

At 6:46 p.m. on Thursday, the NWS Fort Worth TX issued a tornado warning, anticipating baseball-sized hail (2.75 inches) with the approaching storm.

The NWS reported, “At 6:45 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Hackberry, or near Lake Lewisville, moving northeast at 30 mph.”

They also warned of dangerous flying debris for those without shelter, potential damage or destruction to mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles, and likely tree damage.

The tornado might affect the following areas at the specified times: – Frisco, Little Elm, and Prosper around 6:50 p.m. – McKinney around 6:55 p.m. – Celina around 7 p.m.

The NWS advises, “Seek shelter immediately! Head to an inner room on the lowest level of a strong building. Stay away from windows. If you’re outside, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, seek the nearest sturdy shelter and shield yourself from airborne debris.”
