18-year-old Jermaine Thirkield dead in shooting near Schatulga Road and Macon Road
The other victim was taken into surgery for his injuries. He remains in critical condition.
On Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 7:21 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the area of Schatulga Road and Macon Road in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, they discovered two Black males suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and transported both victims to the hospital.
Jermaine Thirkield, 18, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 8:28 p.m. by an ER doctor.
The other victim was taken into surgery for his injuries. He remains in critical condition.
The Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to take lead on the investigation.
