33-year-old Isaiah Hawkins arrested and charged with murder of 32-year-old Demeshia Gainer
Demeshia was found shot dead at a Daily’s gas station off Roosevelt Boulevard.
On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Patrol Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in refence to a reported shooting.
Upon officer’s arrival, they located the victim, Demeshia Gainer (Black/Female, 32), suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue department subsequently responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
Detectives with JSO’s Homicide Unit along with members of the Crime Scene Unit were contacted and responded to conduct their respective investigations.
During the investigation, a person of interest was developed, Isaiah Hawkins (Black/Male, 33).
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Hawkins was located during a traffic stop and transported to the Police Memorial Building for an interview.
After an interview with Homicide Detectives, Hawkins was arrested and charged with murder.
