The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina provided updated details on Wednesday morning regarding the circumstances preceding an active shooter response at a high school.

In response to an erroneous report of an active shooter, a significant law enforcement contingent was dispatched to Belton Honea Path High School, as stated by Shale Remein from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

“The call was received by our Dispatch Center shortly before 11 a.m., prompting an immediate response from deputies,” Remein explained. “As a precautionary measure, they are currently evacuating the school. This remains an active investigation, particularly as we have encountered similar hoax calls in the past. Our detectives are conducting a thorough investigation, and we will furnish additional information as the situation progresses.”
