21-year-old Ahmad Alibrahim shot and killed over Cigar at Borders Drive Thru in Akron

A fatal incident unfolded late at night on the 1300 block of South Arlington Street, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old Ahmad Alibrahim.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office announced the unfortunate news. Akron police and EMS responded to the scene around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, discovering Ahmad, who was an employee at the store, with an evident gunshot wound.

Tragically, he was pronounced dead at 11:38 p.m. According to Akron police Capt. Michael Miller, the shooting transpired when an individual approached the drive-thru window on foot, expressing an intent to purchase black and mild cigars.

After handing the clerk cash in poor condition, potentially tainted with soil or blood, Miller explained that a disagreement ensued regarding the money’s state.

Subsequently, the suspect produced a lengthy-barreled rifle. In response, the clerk returned the cigar and requested the individual to depart with it.

However, before making a getaway on foot, the suspect discharged at least two rounds through the window, targeting the group of employees inside the drive-thru.

Ahmad was struck at least once. Miller noted that shattered glass might have caused injuries to others in close proximity.

Akron police were observed both inside and outside the establishment early on Wednesday, diligently examining the scene for evidence.
