Hoax shooting threat at Fowler High School

Law enforcement will remain in the area until it is confirmed no threats exist to the school and / or community.

At 8:30 am on Thursday, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers received a threatening call. The person claimed a shooting was about to take place at Fowler High School located at 701 E. Main Street in Fowler.

Fowler Police and Sheriff’s deputies immediately responded to the school. As a precaution, Fowler High and other nearby schools were all placed into lockdown, with students and staff advised to shelter in place.

The caller later claimed shots were being fired at the school. However, dispatchers spoke with staff members at the school who said no shots had been fired on campus, adding there was no damage to buildings or injuries to anyone.

Numerous officers from surrounding cities responded to assist. A perimeter is set around the school. Officers and deputies are checking the school grounds and surrounding areas to identify potential threats. At this point, nothing has been discovered.

This remains an ongoing call. Law enforcement will remain in the area until it is confirmed no threats exist to the school and / or community.

Please avoid the area. There is no need for residents / parents to respond to the school.
