False shooting report at Orange Grove Elementary School and San Luis Rio Colorado Elementary School

On April 23, 2024 at approximately 2040 hours, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of rumors circulating of a possible school shooting at Orange Grove Elementary School and San Luis Rio Colorado Elementary School.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office and the San Luis Police Department are still actively investigating these reports.

At this time, these reports do not appear to be credible.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office takes all school threats seriously and will investigate them thoroughly. We encourage the community to continue to report any suspicious activity or threats of violence directed at schools. We will have our Orange School Resource Officer present at the school.
