Mother and father killed, 17-year-old injured in Richmond’s Mosby Court shooting

Richmond Police have confirmed the deaths of two individuals and the injury of a 17-year-old following a shooting in Richmond’s Mosby Court on Thursday night.

The incident prompted police response to the 1600 block of Spotsylvania Street in Mosby Court on April 11, just before 7 p.m. Chief Edwards confirmed that the victims were a mother and father of four, discovered deceased outside their residence.

“It is a somber day,” remarked Edwards. “There are four children now without their parents, and that’s why we urge the entire Richmond community to come together at the scene to provide support and assistance to these grieving family members and the entire community, which is currently grappling with this violence.”

The children have been placed under the care of their extended family.

Additionally, a 17-year-old male was discovered in close proximity, sustaining a gunshot wound.

He has been transported to the hospital with injuries not deemed life-threatening. Authorities suspect that the events are interrelated.

The Medical Examiner will ascertain the cause and circumstances of the deaths.
