Courtney Merkt killed in shooting at Oakland Kwik Serv gas station

Authorities in East Oakland are searching for the person responsible for the fatal shooting of Courtney Merkt at a gas station.

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. at the Kwik Serv on East 12th Street near 23rd Avenue, just off 880.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim with gunshot wounds.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the victim succumbed to their injuries and passed away at the scene.
