Original Report:

On Monday night in Lakeland, a shooting resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals, including a three-year-old, with another person sustaining injuries, as confirmed by law enforcement.

Authorities received reports of the shooting at 1850 Cambridge Cove Circle at 6:34 p.m., prompting a swift response from officers who arrived within two minutes.

Upon arrival, they discovered two gunshot victims, one of whom, a three-year-old Jaquez Norton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Chief ___ stated that a 23-year-old Robert Einzig and a 21-year-old Yeimarie Baez had visited a friend at Cambridge Cove.

As they were leaving the complex in a Toyota Rav 4 with two children—a 3-month-old toddler and a 3-year-old child—a Dodge Challenger obstructed their path.

Emerging from the passenger side of the Dodge Challenger was a man, later identified as 22-year-old Kemarius Wilson, who brandished a handgun and advanced toward the Rav 4.

A man, whose identity remains unknown, exited the driver’s side of the Challenger carrying a rifle and approached the opposite side of the Rav 4.

Meanwhile, the occupant of the Rav 4 was armed with both a handgun and a rifle.

According to police, verbal exchanges occurred, leading to gunfire. Subsequently, the woman departed from the Rav 4 with the three-month-old toddler, while the two men driving the Challenger hastily fled the scene.

The Challenger proceeded to the 800 block of West 14th Street, where it arrived at a relative’s residence of Wilson’s.

Wilson was subsequently transported to the hospital by a private vehicle, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Dodge Challenger was later found in the 800 block of West Crawford Street, where law enforcement seized it.

Lakeland Police are actively seeking the unidentified man who was driving the Challenger, offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his apprehension.

Additionally, the 23-year-old man from the Rav 4 was transported to Lakeland Regional Health with injuries that are not deemed life-threatening.
