Days after the incident, the identities of the two women fatally shot on Sunday afternoon have been revealed.

The Springfield Police Department has announced that Monray Vontez Johnson, aged 26, faces two counts of criminal homicide related to the shooting.

As per an arrest report, Nicole Lane and Deshawna Traughber were discovered with gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle on Pine Circle near Central Avenue.

The grim revelation occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. According to police, Lane was initially found alive but unfortunately succumbed despite resuscitation efforts.

Traughber, on the other hand, was discovered deceased inside the vehicle. As per the arrest report, Johnson’s aunt was the one who stumbled upon the victims first.

Upon finding them, she confronted Johnson, asking, “What have you done?” to which he callously responded, “The b**** is dead.”

Johnson’s aunt then provided authorities at the scene with his phone number, enabling them to track his location via emergency pings.

Police located the suspect hiding in a nearby vehicle and retrieved his phone from beneath a fallen tree.

Johnson is currently detained at the Robertson County Jail.
