After nearly four weeks and incalculable hours of investigative legwork, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) is pleased to announce multiple arrests in connection to the February 13, 2024, shooting at Peele Court that left an 8-year-old boy seriously injured.

Landyn Davis, an 8-year-old, was struck in the head by a stray bullet while playing video games inside his Peele Court residence on the evening of February 13.

Following the incident, Landyn was placed in a medically-induced coma for several days.

His parents report that he is now making progress, although he faces a challenging journey towards recovery.

  • Toriyon Cook (M/21) of Chesapeake, Virginia has been arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Felony Use of a Firearm, Felony Conspiracy, and 24 Counts of Felony Maliciously Discharge a Firearm into a Dwelling.
  • Jerry Davis (M/24) of Chesapeake, Virginia has been arrested and charged with Felony Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Felony Use of a Firearm, Felony Conspiracy, and 24 Counts of Felony Maliciously Discharge a Firearm into a Dwelling.
  • Jakyra Epperson (F/21) of Norfolk, Virginia has been arrested on February 14, 2024, and charged with Felony Attempt to Conceal / Destroy Evidence and Felony Conspiracy to Conceal / Destroy Evidence.

On February 13, 2024, at 6:15 p.m., a ShotSpotter Alert and several 9-1-1 calls were received for shots fired in the 3200 block of Peele Court in the Scarborough Square neighborhood of Virginia Beach.

Officers from the VBPD responded and located an 8-year-old boy suffering from a serious gunshot wound injury and two residences which had sustained damage from the numerous shots fired.

Since that night, countless hours have been spent investigating this offense.
