Update: Karel Mangual, aged 28, has been apprehended and accused of the murder of 27-year-old Chasity Nunez and her 11-year-old daughter Zella Nunez in a Worcester neighborhood. Authorities are continuing their search for the second suspect, 27-year-old Dejan Belnavis, also from Worcester. Investigators have warned that Belnavis “should be considered armed and dangerous.”

Chasity Nunez and her daughter, Zella Milton, were tragically killed in a shooting incident on Tuesday afternoon while sitting in a parked vehicle on a street in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Police responded to the scene at around 3 p.m. near 1 Lisbon St. in the Columbus Park neighborhood of the city.

The individuals who were shot were discovered in a vehicle parked on Englewood Avenue with severe injuries.

Officers extricated them from the vehicle and they were taken to a local hospital, where they were subsequently declared deceased.

A photograph of the crime scene revealed over thirty evidence markers scattered across the roadway.

“This kind of incident is uncommon for the city as a whole. It was a highly violent act,” remarked Worcester police Lt. Sean Murtha.

Resident Bob Shepard expressed his dismay, stating, “It’s terrible. This is not typical of the neighborhood. It’s a peaceful, family-oriented community. Incidents like these are unheard of here.”

Additional residents reported hearing a burst of gunfire.

Investigators were observed inspecting a gray Nissan SUV parked on Englewood Avenue.

The vehicle exhibited at least four bullet holes on the driver’s side windshield and several more on the driver’s side door and window.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
