A young woman is facing charges related to a double shooting in Bedford on Thursday morning that resulted in the deaths of her mother and father, authorities reported.

Jessica Cavallaro, 24, of Bedford, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Concord District Court.

The charges include murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Officers received a 911 call around 9 a.m. from a resident at 11 Washington Street, reporting that a young woman living in the home had just confessed to shooting her parents, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan stated during a late-morning news conference.

The caller then went outside and found two individuals with gunshot wounds in a car parked on a nearby lawn.

Cavallaro’s 56-year-old mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 56-year-old father was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

A handgun was also recovered at the scene.

Cavallaro was arrested without issue. While Cavallaro lives elsewhere on Washington Street, her boyfriend lives in the house where the emergency call originated.

The victims, whose names haven’t been released, lived in a different part of Bedford.

The motive for the shooting and the reason the victims were in the area are unclear.

Authorities are urging residents to avoid the area due to the ongoing investigation.
