Update: The Davenport Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting on Monday night that resulted in the death of 16-year-old De’Zia L. Bailey.

On Friday, 15-year-old Kayvon M. Davis-Miller was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and assault while participating in a felony related to this case, as stated in a media release by the police.

The incident is still under investigation, and no additional details are currently provided.

On Monday, March 4, 2024, at approximately 9:52 PM, Davenport Police, Fire, and Medic EMS responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Grand Ave in reference to the report of shots fired with a victim inside a residence.

When officers arrived, they found 16-year-old Dezia Bailey with an apparent gunshot wound. Bailey was then taken to a local hospital by Medic EMS, where she later died from her injury.

This does not appear to be a random act of violence.

This incident remains under investigation; no further information is available at this time.
