According to the TBI, DeHart, aged 42, was stopped in Mayrville, Tennessee, on Friday, February 9.

During the traffic stop, he allegedly shot the deputies, resulting in the death of 43-year-old Deputy Greg McCowan.

The other deputy involved, 22-year-old Shelby Eggers, received treatment at the hospital and was subsequently discharged.

The hunt for DeHart spanned several days, prompting the TBI to include him on their Most Wanted list and deploy billboards featuring his image and details across the Southeast.

Additionally, DeHart’s brother has been apprehended and accused of aiding and abetting a suspect following the homicide.

DeHart is anticipated to face charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and possession of a handgun by a felon.
