4.9 magnitude earthquake strikes in Los Angeles near Malibu

On Friday afternoon, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Los Angeles region, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The quake struck at 1:47 p.m. with its epicenter near Malibu.

Initially reported as a 4.6 magnitude event, it was followed by a 3.0 magnitude aftershock in the vicinity.

At present, there have been no reports of damage or injuries, and additional information is not yet available.
