Update: Cobb County Schools has verified that two individuals were shot at McEachern High School.

The incident occurred in the parking lot, and neither of the victims is currently enrolled as a student at the school.

Fortunately, both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Powder Springs Police is present at the scene, assisting Cobb School Police in the response.

The status of the shooter’s apprehension remains unclear. Authorities have secured the campus and are actively working to identify the shooter or shooters involved.

“The campus is in code red, police are on campus, and for the safety of both students and staff, parents will not be allowed on campus, and buses will not run until the code red is lifted.  We will provide an additional update to the public once one is available,” school officials said.

Students and staff at McEachern High School have been instructed to take shelter as authorities work to address the presence of an armed individual on campus.

The Cobb County Police Department has verified their assistance in dealing with an “active shooter situation” in collaboration with the Cobb County School District Police Department at the Powder Springs school, situated approximately 22 miles northwest of Atlanta.

As reported by a concerned mother whose daughter attends McEachern High School, there has been a shooting incident at the school. Allegedly, a classmate brought a gun to school and shot another student.

The mother expressed frustration, stating that the school has not notified anyone. She added that her daughter is currently locked down, hiding in the back of a classroom, and she has been unable to reach the school authorities. The mother is anxious about the situation and is facing difficulties accessing the campus.

As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
