In downtown Muncie on Tuesday afternoon, a collision resulted in the death of one person. The driver of a vehicle involved in the crash, which occurred at Mulberry and Main streets around 12:18 p.m., had been evading police in a pursuit.

Among the two occupants in the vehicle unrelated to the chase, one person lost their life. The identity of the deceased individual in the crash has not been disclosed by the police.

Later in the afternoon, an investigation was initiated at the crash scene.

The downtown intersection was cordoned off with yellow crime-scene tape, creating a substantial restricted area.

Melissa Criswell, the deputy chief of the Muncie Police Department, reported that officers were in pursuit of Olivia Louise Larue, a 39-year-old woman from Muncie who was the subject of drug-related warrants.

Criswell mentioned that officers received information indicating that Larue was in possession of a rifle and had “issued threats of violence towards officers.”

The initial attempt to stop her vehicle occurred at Memorial Drive and Gharkey Streets at 12:10 p.m. However, as per Criswell, Larue evaded the stop, leading to a pursuit.

Larue was apprehended at the crash site. Scanner communications suggested that a passenger in her vehicle may have fled on foot, prompting a manhunt in the downtown vicinity.

The Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into the fatal crash.

According to court records, a warrant for Larue’s arrest was issued in October in Delaware Circuit Court 2.

She had been charged a year earlier with offenses including dealing in cocaine, dealing in a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.

This case is still pending. Additionally, in November, another warrant was issued for Larue’s arrest in Madison Circuit Court 3, where she faces charges of dealing in cocaine, dealing in a narcotic drug, and identity deception. Larue’s criminal record includes convictions for auto theft and theft.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
