Lockdown at Edwards Air Force Base lifted after individual brandishing a firearm

Update: Security Forces has determined that there is no longer an imminent threat at Edwards AFB.

All personnel are released from lock down and are free to move about the installation and transit all gates.

Security Forces will maintain an elevated security posture at all gates. Expect delays arriving and departing through all gates.

At approximately 08:26 Edwards AFB was placed on Lockdown. Security Forces received a report of an individual brandishing a firearm, who then fled their work area without harming anyone. Security Forces are responding to the incident.

All base personnel should continue to follow safe unit lockdown procedure and remain in lockdown until further notice.

As per a witness, individuals planning to go to Edwards Air Force Base should be aware that the base is currently on lockdown. Limited information is available at this time. Gate access is causing long lines, and no one is allowed to enter or exit.
