Beaufort authorities have identified the young child who tragically lost her life in a weekend shooting. Warrants have now been issued for the man believed to be responsible—the victim’s own father.
Beaufort Police received a call about a shooting incident at the Cross Creek Apartments on Ambrose Run at approximately 12:40 p.m. last Sunday.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered a 26-year-old woman with severe injuries. Additionally, a 25-year-old man and a 3-year-old child sustained injuries and were promptly transported to the hospital.
Tragically, the child, identified as Ariana Fair by the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday, succumbed to her injuries.
According to investigators, a domestic altercation arose during a child exchange, ultimately culminating in the shooting.
The child’s mother and her boyfriend, the other two victims, have since received medical treatment and been discharged. On Monday, authorities expressed their interest in questioning 27-year-old Jonathan Tyleke Fair.
Subsequently, on Tuesday, the Beaufort Police Department revealed that warrants for Fair’s arrest had been secured, encompassing charges of murder, along with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Fair is known to frequent the Big Estates and Yemassee area.
