Multiple injuries have been reported after a lightning strike at a golf course in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Emergency crews are responding to the serious incident at the TPC River Highlands, where multiple people were reportedly struck during a severe thunderstorm at the Tournament Players Club.

The exact number of injured individuals is not yet known.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a bright flash and hearing a loud crack just before the incident.

Paramedics are on the scene providing first aid.

A massive thunderstorm is rolling through, suspending play due to thunder and lightning. Despite the interruption, Akshay Bhatia and Tom Kim are currently leading with a 14-under score, while Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, and Colin Morikawa are close behind at 13-under.

Five golfers, including Ludvig Aberg, who had an impressive showing at the U.S. Open last week, are tied at 12-under. The golfers hope the storm passes quickly so they can resume and finish the penultimate round.

Sunday marks the final round of the event, with the winner taking home a trophy and significant prize money. The Travelers Championship is currently in a weather delay, as evident from a photo posted by the PGA Tour’s official Twitter/X account, showing a massive lightning bolt striking near the golf course.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
