3 children among six people killed in a large house fire in Newnan

A fire in Coweta County early Monday morning has tragically claimed six lives, officials report.

The blaze occurred in a residence on the 1300 block of Macedonia Road near Roscoe Road in Newnan. Firefighters were seen dousing the home with water before 8 a.m.

Channel3 NOW has confirmed the fatalities.

The Coweta Fire Department stated they were dispatched at 4:48 a.m. and arrived within 10 minutes.

Tragically, upon arrival, firefighters found the house engulfed in flames.

Five individuals were located outside the residence, and they informed firefighters that six people remained trapped inside.

Firefighters bravely entered the burning structure in a rescue attempt.

Although they managed to pull everyone out within 15 minutes, none of the victims survived, according to the fire department chief.

The identities and ages of the victims have not yet been released, but reports indicate a range from young to elderly.

Those who were outside the home during the fire sustained injuries, some serious, and were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The surrounding area was temporarily affected by road closures due to the incident.
