A tragic event unfolded in Louisiana on Thursday. A woman was found murdered in her home, and her two young daughters were abducted.

Thankfully, one daughter, six-year-old (age can be specified), was found safe.

However, the other daughter, four-year-old Erin Brunett, was tragically found deceased in Mississippi hours later.

Authorities apprehended a suspect, Daniel Callihan, on Thursday evening following the discovery of Erin’s body.

A police dog helped locate him in a wooded area near Jackson. He is currently being held in Rankin County Jail.

The situation took a turn as Jackson police arrested another suspect, 32-year-old Victoria Cox.

This comes after U.S. Marshals tragically discovered the body of the younger daughter, four-year-old Erin Brunett, in a wooded area south of Jackson.

The location was roughly 30 yards behind a house, a heartbreaking distance from where her injured six-year-old sister was found.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “This case is deeply disturbing, even for our experienced officers. It’s not something we expected to encounter today.”

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade expressed his horror at the crime scene, calling it “horrible” and “tragic.”

He revealed a disturbing discovery that linked the area to potential human trafficking. “Based on the evidence found, it appears this location may have been used for human trafficking,” Chief Wade said. “The presence of small animal cages is very disturbing.”

He spoke with a mix of outrage and fatherly grief, highlighting the emotional toll of the case.

When asked if this was Daniel Callihan’s first offense involving children, Chief Wade acknowledged they lacked immediate confirmation.

However, he strongly suspected otherwise. “While I can’t definitively say at this moment,” he said, “I would be very surprised if this wasn’t a repeated pattern. A full investigation will reveal his criminal history.”

Jackson Police, alongside the FBI, vow a relentless pursuit of justice.

Chief Wade pledged a meticulous investigation, stating, “We’ll dissect this crime scene with utmost precision. This location served as a trafficking and abduction ground, and we aim to hold everyone involved accountable.”

The FBI confirmed their involvement, starting a full investigation upon learning of the case. “We’re committed to utilizing all available resources, including victim support,” their statement reads.

“We collaborate closely with local authorities and appreciate any information the public can offer. Call 1-800-CALL-FBI to contribute.” To safeguard the investigation’s integrity, further details remain confidential.
