Friday night in Corpus Christi took a tragic turn when a drive-by shooting unfolded on the 5800 block of Skylark Drive.

According to Corpus Christi Police, a gunman fired from a passing vehicle around 9:30 pm.

The attack claimed the life of 44-year-old Nikki Nunez, and left 60-year-old Brenda Rivera in serious condition.

Responding officers found two women at the scene with gunshot wounds – a 44-year-old and a 60-year-old. Medics rushed both victims to the hospital in critical condition, but sadly, the 44-year-old woman later died from her injuries, as confirmed by CCPD Senior Officer Jennifer Collier.

Investigators believe a black passenger car, possibly a Mazda with black rims, drove by the residence and fired into the home, striking the two women.

The suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored passenger car with black rims, possibly a Mazda, sped away from the scene and remains at large.
