Houston police are hunting for two young suspects who allegedly shot and killed a market employee at the Greater Heights Farmers Market early Thursday morning.

The fatal shooting occurred around 4:20 am on Airline Drive, near I-610 North Loop.

The victim, responsible for checking deliveries, was reportedly with a security guard when they spotted the young suspects attempting to steal a golf cart.

The HPD identified the victim as a man in his 40s.

According to investigators, he confronted the suspects outside after spotting them trying to steal a golf cart, and was tragically shot multiple times.

The suspects fled the scene, leaving the employee deceased in the parking lot. Police recovered at least four shell casings.

“The market opens early for deliveries,” explained Detective D. Crowder. “One entrance was unsecured, which the suspects likely exploited. We haven’t confirmed if anything was stolen, but they were carrying backpacks, suggesting their intent.”

Investigators believe the suspects may be nearby since one was reportedly wearing flip-flops. Fortunately, the incident was caught on surveillance video.

HPD released images of the young suspects, hoping someone recognizes them.

The photos show the suspects rummaging through market goods.
