Edward Colon and Milton Sykes killed after shooting near banquet hall in Pembroke Township
The incident remains under investigation by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office and Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department.
On May 25, 2024, at approximately 12:27 am the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office was requested to the scene of a shooting incident near 13100 East Central Street in Pembroke Township, Illinois.
The Coroner’s Office responded and pronounced Edward E. Colon, age 32, of Chicago, Illinois, deceased at the scene of the incident.
At 6:26 am the Coroner’s Office was also notified of a second death that had occurred at Riverside Medical Center as a result of the shooting incident.
The second deceased subject was identified as Milton J. Sykes, age 44, of Kankakee, Illinois.
Autopsies on both individuals were completed on May 25, 2024, and determined both individuals died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office and Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department.
