Student shot and killed on Kennesaw State University campus identified as 21-year-old Alasia Franklin

A female student was shot and killed on the Kennesaw State University campus. On Saturday, crime scene tape cordoned off part of the campus as police conducted their investigation.

At 4:07 p.m., KSU Emergency Management personnel advised everyone on campus to seek shelter.

After nearly three hours, the university declared the situation safe at 4:45 pm.

While the South Campus Housing area remained restricted due to ongoing police activity, they assured everyone the armed intruder was no longer a threat.

Later, a school spokesperson confirmed a suspect had been apprehended.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Harris, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Harris is not affiliated with Kennesaw State University as a student.

Understandably, many students expressed shock at this frightening incident happening so close to home.

The female student who was killed has been identified as 21-year-old Alasia Franklin.

According to a KSU spokesperson, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating the fatal incident.
