Tornado on the ground of Carbondale, heading towards downtown Marion Illinois

A tornado has touched down in Carbondale and is moving towards downtown Marion, Illinois.

A tornado warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Paducah, KY, effective until 3:30 PM CDT, for Southeastern Jackson County in southern Illinois.

At 3:02 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm with the potential to spawn a tornado was detected over the Cedar Lake Area, or near Carbondale, moving east at 30 mph.
