No threat found at Ephrata Walmart after report of domestic violence

There was a heavy police response at the Ephrata Walmart today at approximately 12:40 due to a threat of domestic violence.

Officers and Deputies from neighboring agencies responded to assist the Ephrata Police Department and subsequently searched and cleared the store.

No threat was located and the store was cleared and deemed safe.

Schools were placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.

UPDATE 1:10 p.m. – Ephrata Families: We’ve been notified by law enforcement that there is NOT an active shooter at Walmart in Ephrata. The threat was unfounded. School will resume normal operations.

Ephrata Families: We have been made aware of an active shooter situation occurring at Walmart. Out of an abundance of caution, Columbia Ridge Elementary, Ephrata Middle School and Tiger Cub Preschool have been placed into “Secure the Building” protocol. All students are safe. Students will be kept inside and learning will continue as usual. We will keep you informed as the situation develops.
