Video shows moments shots fired in Charlotte, 3 officers killed

Update: According to law enforcement sources speaking to Channel3 NOW, two of the deceased officers were local task force officers, while one was a deputy with the Marshals Service.

Video footage captures the moments when shots were fired in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The residence on Galway Drive is now clear, and the area is safe.

Residents no longer need to shelter in place.

CMPD and other law enforcement agencies will be at the scene to conduct the investigation. Some roadways in the neighborhood will remain closed.

Tragically, three U.S. Marshals lost their lives in the incident, and two CMPD officers sustained gunshot wounds—one to the chest and the other to the leg.

Both officers are currently in critical condition.

The incident occurred on Galway Drive in the eastern part of the city. Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force were conducting an investigation when they exchanged gunfire with an individual, according to CMPD.

According to multiple sources, one U.S. Marshal lost their life in the exchange of fire. Several roads in Charlotte have been closed as law enforcement personnel are being swiftly transported to local hospitals.

The SWAT Team of CMPD is presently at the location. CMPD has officially stated on Twitter that the situation poses a solitary threat to Galway Drive and advised residents to stay indoors.

CMS has indicated that certain schools are affected due to the ongoing investigation, and parents will receive instructions on retrieving their children.

Furthermore, CMS has announced the lifting of lockdown measures for Devonshire ES, Briarwood Academy, Cochrane Collegiate, and Lawrence Orr Es.
