14-year-old Niyah Devine killed after shooting at Trails of North Hills Apartments in Raleigh

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.



Authorities are conducting an investigation following the discovery of a deceased 14-year-old in a Raleigh apartment early Monday morning.

Police were dispatched to The Trails of North Hills Apartments in the 1900 block of North Hills Drive near Lead Mine Road just before 3 a.m.

Upon arrival, they encountered the young girl, who had already succumbed to gunshot wounds.

A spokesperson for the family of the girl, who was an 8th grader, stated that the apartment where the incident occurred was described as a “party house.”

It was clarified that she did not reside in the apartment where her body was discovered.

One building was cordoned off with crime scene tape, and police officers were canvassing neighbors’ residences at 3 a.m. as part of their investigation.

Several hours later, the area remained active with law enforcement activity.

Currently, there are no specifics provided by the police regarding the circumstances of the shooting, and no suspects have been apprehended.
