On Friday morning, a 15-year-old was taken into custody in relation to a shooting incident that occurred at a teenager’s birthday gathering on Thursday night.

Darrin Fleming faces charges of criminal homicide in connection with the death of his cousin Barrington Moore, as reported by the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The shooting occurred at a temporary rental property on Youngs Lane in North Nashville.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that Fleming, who is under probation in juvenile court, was present at the birthday celebration when his mother contacted him and instructed him to return home by 8 p.m., in compliance with the conditions of his probation.

Just after 9 p.m., Moore, aged 31, arrived to locate and escort Fleming back home.

Upon discovering Fleming concealed in a closet, an altercation broke out, during which the teenager brandished a firearm, as per police reports.

He allegedly confessed to discharging the weapon during the altercation.

Moore sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, as stated by the police.

Fleming was subsequently detained and booked at a juvenile detention center.
