A North Carolina resident was apprehended in Kingport, Tennessee, on Tuesday following the death of a woman in Mocksville, as reported by Davie County deputies.

Prior to 3 p.m., the Davie County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence on Pineville Road in Mocksville after a 911 caller reported a shooting incident.

Deputies discovered one woman deceased at the location, alongside another woman found within the residence.

The deceased, identified as Jade Marie Sales, aged 34, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspect, Dennis Jerome Sales, aged 38, had departed the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival. Inside the home during the shooting were an 18-year-old and a one-month-old baby.

The 18-year-old called 911 to report the incident and sought refuge inside the house with the infant.

Davie County telecommunicators maintained communication with her until deputies could secure the premises and locate her.

Meanwhile, other children who were at school were escorted to the Sheriff’s Office by School Resource Officers (SROs) for their safety.

The Department of Social Services assisted in caring for the children and arranged for them to stay with other family members. Medical attention was provided for the one-month-old infant.

Warrants have been issued to charge Dennis Sales with murder.
