14-year-old Brian Wellington charged in connection to shooting death of 38-year-old Kay Johnson in St Louis
Johnson had sustained a gunshot wound to the face and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
A 14-year-old boy, Brian Wellington, has been charged in connection with a homicide incident that occurred in 2023.
The Circuit Attorney’s Office filed charges against him on Tuesday, certifying him as an adult.
Wellington is facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree robbery, and two counts of armed criminal action.
He was arrested on Wednesday and is currently being held without bond.
The incident took place in the 4700 block of Compton around 6:55 p.m. on January 24th, 2023.
Upon receiving a report of a shooting, officers responded and discovered the victim, 38-year-old Kay Johnson, deceased inside her vehicle in an alley.
Johnson had sustained a gunshot wound to the face and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
According to friends of Johnson who spoke to Channel3 NOW in the days following the incident, she was killed in front of her daughter.
Sgt. Charles Walls of the SLMPD confirmed that Wellington was arrested on Wednesday and is currently being held without bond.
