Shocked family members and friends have identified the victim of the mass shooting outside a New Orleans nightclub late Sunday night as 24-year-old Jezreel Aquilla Poleate, a Harvey resident.

According to friends, the vibrant Helen Cox High School graduate was tragically caught in the crossfire of the shooting, which also injured 11 other individuals in the 800 block of South Peters Street.

The New Orleans Police Department received reports of the shooting just before midnight outside Republic NOLA, a music venue and nightclub.

Among the survivors are six women and five men, according to NOPD statements.

They were transported to hospitals via ambulance or private vehicles, with no immediate information available regarding their conditions.

NOPD officials are anticipated to provide further details regarding the investigation at a news conference scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday.

According to Republic owner Nick Thomas, the shooting took place entirely outside the venue.

Eventbrite records indicate that hip-hop artist Anycia performed at the establishment that night.
