26-year-old Jeffry Padilla killed in east Birmingham shooting

During the early hours in east Birmingham, a shooting incident resulted in the death of one individual.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of 81st Street South at midnight following a Shot Spotter alert indicating a single round fired in the vicinity.

Before their arrival, the call was updated to report a person shot, as stated by Sgt. LaQuitta Wade on Saturday.

The victim, identified as Jeffry Padilla, 26, of Birmingham, was discovered lying face down in the front yard of a residence.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Investigators suspect that the victim engaged in a verbal altercation with the unknown suspect or suspects just before the shooting occurred.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
