Murder Charges Filed Against 20-Year-Old Mikal Kirkman in Tuscaloosa Shooting Death of 17-Year-Old Kendris Moore

Tuscaloosa authorities have officially charged 20-year-old Mikal Rashaun Kirkman with one count of Murder following an overnight fatal shooting.

The incident, which resulted in the death of a male, is currently under investigation, with investigators continuing to work at the crime scene Thursday morning.

The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Kendris Moore. Tuscaloosa Police responded to a report of shots fired after 9 pm on Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred within a neighborhood located in the 3100 block of Second Avenue. Portions of several yards and a section of Second Avenue have been cordoned off with yellow crime tape.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. He was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Presently, authorities are interviewing individuals they believe may possess information regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Capt. Marty Sellers of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit stated, “We have people that we are talking to that are suspects. So right now we’re just conducting an investigation and hope to get the details that we need to make a charge.”

Capt. Smith emphasized that there is no indication that this shooting is connected to any recent incidents in Tuscaloosa over the past week.
