18-Year-Old Jayden Michniewicz Arrested in Connection with Shooting Death of 16-Year-Old in Decatur

Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a loaded firearm at the residence.

Early Saturday morning, a shooting incident claimed the life of a teenager. Decatur Police responded to a call at the 600 block of W. William St. around 2:15 a.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to Decatur Memorial Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a loaded firearm at the residence.

As a result, 18-year-old Jayden Michniewicz was arrested on probable cause for involuntary manslaughter and was booked into the Macon County Jail.

Authorities emphasize the importance of safe gun ownership, stressing the need for proper safety measures and storage equipment when possessing firearms.

Decatur Police expressed condolences to the family and friends of the 16-year-old victim.
