16-year-old Johnveir Winn killed, 3 other wounded in Chicago shooting

A 16-year-old Johnveir Winn has passed away, and three others are wounded after a shooting incident in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.

The Chicago Police Department reported that the teenager and four men were standing on a sidewalk in the 400 block of North Lavergne at approximately 2:50 p.m. when an unidentified vehicle stopped, and two individuals exited.

They opened fire on the four victims before fleeing northbound on Lavergne.

The 16-year-old boy, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was initially transported in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later.

A 25-year-old man received a graze wound to the thigh, a 21-year-old man was shot in the groin, and a 25-year-old man sustained an ankle injury from gunshots.

All three individuals transported themselves to West Suburban Hospital and were reported to be in good condition.

Currently, no suspects are in custody, and Area Four detectives are conducting an investigation into the incident.
