Update: Anton Rucker, the individual suspected in the shooting at the Salemtown restaurant on Sunday, resulting in one fatality and four injuries, has been apprehended in Kentucky, as confirmed by Metro Nashville Police late Tuesday night. MNPD TITANS detectives successfully located Rucker at a residence in Princeton, Kentucky, where he surrendered peacefully.

Officials are seeking a man linked to an Easter Sunday shooting at a Salemtown coffee shop, resulting in one fatality and seven others hospitalized.

The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, at Roasted Salemtown in the 600 block of Garfield Street, close to Germantown.

The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that 33-year-old Allen Beachem was fatally shot. Five other victims sustained non-critical gunshot injuries.

Additionally, one individual was taken to the hospital with a potential graze wound described as a scratch, possibly caused by contact with sharp furniture.

A pregnant woman experienced a panic attack and sought hospital evaluation, despite not being injured. In total, eight individuals were transported to at least three different hospitals following the shooting, including Beachem.

Officials stated that the assailant discharged a pistol during Sunday brunch at Roasted before departing in a Mercedes GLS 450, as depicted in photos provided by MNPD.

Don Aaron, a public information officer for MNPD, clarified, β€œThis was not a shootout. This involved one individual who opted to use a firearm following an altercation with another individual. He then discharged multiple rounds, leading to the injuries I’ve outlined.”

Police reported that shortly after the suspect’s arrival at the coffee shop, he engaged in a heated argument with another man, who is suspected to be the deceased individual. However, there is currently no evidence to suggest that the two men were acquainted.

Authorities stated that the gunman arrived at Roasted in the company of a female, who departed with him following the shooting.

Although the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, Aaron suggested that it could have stemmed from something as minor as one person encroaching on another’s personal space.

MNPD Cmdr. Anthony McClain noted that the coffee shop had changed ownership within the past year, and prior to this incident, law enforcement had not encountered any major problems at Roasted. He expressed surprise at such an incident occurring in the Salemtown area, particularly on Easter Sunday.

McClain stated that surveillance footage depicted a scene of β€œmass chaos” following the shooting, with numerous individuals panicking and attempting to flee the shop while others resisted the suspect.

MNPD’s Homicide Unit is spearheading the investigation, aided by detectives from the TITANS Unit of the Specialized Investigations Division, which specializes in locating individuals responsible for gunfire incidents in neighborhoods.

On Sunday evening, MNPD announced that 46-year-old Anton Rucker is sought in connection with the homicide at Roasted. Rucker has prior aggravated assault convictions in Nashville and was reportedly arrested in Murfreesboro last Halloween on felony drug charges, as well as assault and gun charges last August.

Should you spot Rucker or the vehicle depicted in the image, please contact MNPD at 615-862-8600.
