Police have charged Bobby Jones, 31, with first-degree murder following the fatal shooting of Charles Bethea, 27, in his Lumberton residence on Friday morning.

Jones has been detained at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

The incident occurred around 12:25 a.m. in the 500 block of E. 21st Street, according to police.

Bethea was discovered inside the residence and was transported by EMS to UNC Health Southeastern, where he passed away at approximately 7:20 a.m.
