31-year-old Jimmy Hollins II found dead with a gunshot wound to the neck in Kewanee

Following the incident, Kewanee Officers began canvassing the area for a suspect and gathered statements from witnesses.

At approximately 7:31 p.m. on March 24th, 2024, Kewanee Police Officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Houle Avenue regarding a male found lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, they found a male with a gunshot wound to the neck. Immediate life-saving measures were taken until Paramedics from the Kewanee Fire Department arrived.

Despite their efforts, the individual, identified as Jimmy Hollins II (31) of Kewanee, Illinois, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following the incident, Kewanee Officers began canvassing the area for a suspect and gathered statements from witnesses.

Detectives from the Kewanee Police Department launched a homicide investigation and requested additional assistance from the Henry Mercer County Investigative Task Force, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators and the Henry County Office of Emergency Management.

The investigation remains ongoing as Detectives diligently pursue leads. An autopsy is scheduled for March 26th, 2024. Anyone with pertinent information regarding the case is urged to contact the Kewanee Police Department at (309) 853-1911.
