25-year-old Issac Hollis charged for the shooting death of 24-year-old Deijon Gipson outside Conley Road Walmart

Hollis faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

On Monday, the Columbia Police Department identified the victim of the shooting incident that occurred on March 18 outside the Walmart on Conley Road.

Deijon Gipson, aged 24 and hailing from St. Louis, was transported to a local hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries later on.

CPD apprehended Issac Hollis, aged 25, in connection with the shooting.

Hollis faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

According to court records, witnesses reported a verbal altercation between Gipson and Hollis in the parking lot, both before and after Gipson entered Walmart.

Surveillance footage from Walmart depicted Hollis shooting Gipson in the back as Gipson walked back to his vehicle.

Subsequently, Hollis turned towards his own vehicle but then approached Gipson again, firing additional shots as Gipson attempted to flee, as per court documents.

Currently, Hollis is held without bond at the Boone County Jail.

A docket hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on March 28, and a preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. on April 16.
