Update: On Friday, the Allen County Coroner identified the individual who succumbed to a shooting incident on Thursday in the parking lot of Walmart situated on the south side of the city.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Devon Evans Herlde of Fort Wayne.

The coroner determined his death to be a homicide.

The FWPD has named a suspect in the fatal shooting at the Southtown Walmart on Thursday morning.

Micah Nunn, 20, is considered armed and dangerous, described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 240 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities advise against approaching him.

Fort Wayne Police Department officials reported a fatal shooting outside the Southtown Walmart on Thursday morning.

Responding to a call around 11:40 a.m., officers arrived at the Walmart located at 7502 N Southtown Crossing.

According to Sgt. Jeremy Webb, the victim was seated in his vehicle when another car approached and parked nearby.

Webb stated that the suspect exited their vehicle, entered the victim’s car, and shot him before fleeing the scene.

The victim, initially in critical condition, succumbed to injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The Fort Wayne Police Homicide Unit has assumed control of the investigation, reviewing surveillance footage and conducting witness interviews.

The incident remains under investigation in collaboration with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.

While the grocery entrance of the store is closed for police inquiry, Walmart continues normal operations.
