Fort Lauderdale police officer shot at Holiday Inn Express
Authorities have not yet confirmed if any suspects have been apprehended.
A police officer in Fort Lauderdale was transported to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound.
Dozens of officers and a SWAT team have gathered at the parking garage area of a Holiday Inn Express on SE 17th Street, just west of the causeway.
The injured officer was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances leading to the shooting.
A hotel guest expressed shock, recounting how she observed a flurry of police activity and was informed of the incident by others outside the hotel premises.
Traffic on 17th Street is being rerouted.
