Update: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have announced an arrest in connection with the homicide of a woman at a Cook Out in north Charlotte.

Malek Crosby, aged 20, was charged with first-degree murder on Monday, March 18, as per CMPD statements.

An investigation into a homicide unfolded at a Cookout in northwest Charlotte, following the fatal shooting of a woman on Sunday morning.

According to CMPD, the incident occurred inside the Cook Out located at 4321 Sunset Road.

Authorities were alerted to the restaurant around 5 a.m. on Sunday, discovering Jaselyn Horne, aged 26, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Horne was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC.

The suspect, identified as someone outside of the victim’s family but not unfamiliar to them, has not had their name disclosed in the police report as of yet.

Authorities urge anyone with information to step forward, although the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has not yet identified a suspect.
