Video shows moments shots fired inside Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station in Brooklyn

A 36-year-old man, armed with a gun, is in critical condition following an altercation in a Brooklyn subway train, where he was shot with his own weapon by another man.

The incident occurred on a northbound A train at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

According to police reports, a 32-year-old man entered the train at the Nostrand Avenue Station.

As the train began to depart, a 36-year-old man already onboard approached a 32-year-old man.

Witnesses described the older man as confrontational and provocative toward the younger individual.

Their exchange escalated from words to physical altercation, prompting the 36-year-old to brandish a knife or razor blade.

Subsequently, he discarded the sharp object and retrieved a gun from his jacket.

The 36-year-old advanced menacingly toward the 32-year-old with the firearm, prompting another round of physical confrontation.

Amidst the struggle, the 32-year-old managed to wrest the gun away from the older individual and discharged it, hitting the 36-year-old aggressor in the head.

Subsequently, the train arrived at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station, where officers responded to the gunfire and swiftly secured the scene.

The 36-year-old was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in critical condition. Authorities recovered a firearm at the scene.

Northbound A and C trains experienced temporary delays while the NYPD investigated at the station. The 32-year-old is currently in custody and undergoing police questioning.

No charges have been filed as of now, and an investigation is ongoing.
