11-year-old Jaydone Perkins stabbed to death at Lincoln Square apartments in Chicago

A 37-year-old suspect, known to authorities, fled the apartment but was later apprehended by CPD.

On Wednesday morning, March 13th, 2024, just before 8 a.m., Chicago Police responded to reports of a person shot at the Lincoln Square apartments on Thorndale & Ravenswood.

Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals stabbed. Jayden was found with multiple stab wounds to the body and was swiftly taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

His mother, a 33-year-old pregnant woman, sustained several stab wounds and is currently in critical condition.

CPD reports that neighbors dialed 911 after hearing yelling and screaming, witnessing the injuries to Jayden and his mother.

A 37-year-old suspect, known to authorities, fled the apartment but was later apprehended by CPD.

According to the Illinois Department Of Corrections (IDOC), the suspect had been released from prison just the day before.

He had previously received a 16-year prison sentence in 2015 for a domestic-related armed home invasion involving a different woman, as per court records.

Additionally, he has served prison time on three occasions for violating orders of protection.

Area Detectives continue to investigate this attack and homicide.
